Little girl to the nurse before getting the flu shot, “Will it hurt?”
The nurse says, “It feels like a bee sting.”
Cue hysteria!
Bee stings hurt, and that’s a scary statement! No one, especially a child, is going to willingly stick out their arm and say, “Go ahead and sting me, bee.”
It’s an innate human response to run from pain.
Halloween is on the horizon. Have you been to a haunted house? Do you run from the chainsaw man or stand there and welcome him to cut you in half? I bet you run.
My suggestion to healthcare professionals when asked this question:
“You might not even feel it!”
